Why hot girls marry not-so-hot guys

April 13th, 2008

Well there’s a story here - and you can read it at livesceince - I had seen this synopsis at yahoo. I have my quick spin on it though. Very simple.

If you have money, a nice car, nice clothes, nice house, good job, or even just a fat pension or regular royalty check - you can find a hot girl out there somewhere who wants security and is willing to give up on the losers out there no matter how good looking they are or how long they spend at the gym.

Just make sure you get a DNA test if she gets knocked up, I have seen some studies that show a woman will seek better gens once she has established a secure nest.

Got a new board - hitting the slopes

April 13th, 2008

This is big news to my friends, especially the ones begging me to join them! I hit the slopes last weekend, and it was amazing. Eric talked me into me into going, and I decided it was time for new Burton snowboards for me and the wife. It took me a while to get back into the swing of things, but at least I didn’t miss the lift!

Mary didn’t have as much fun as me I guess, she took an offer to sell her board to someone on the spot when asked, sure we made a few bucks on the sale, but she had to finish the night skiing instead of boarding. I loved the slopes and love the new board! planning another trip next weekend, who’s up for Canada?

OLX the craigslist for the rest of the world

April 12th, 2008

James sent me an email about a company that sounds similar to one of my ideas I am hoping to get funding for. What OLX is doing is becoming the craigslist or classifieds site for the world. The article he forwarded me had some cool info like the fact that they white label partner with friendster and it helps their growth.

Now if these people can get tens of millions of dollars in investments and venture capitol, I know that my idea can get a million. Guess it;s time to get the idea on digital paper so the investors can see how cool of an idea it really is. Who knows that the future holds? Worldwide news and classified domination? Maybe.

Of course there is Kijji for competition - but get real - the name sucks, the domain is hard to remember and the only it has going for it is Ebay - well that’s a pretty big monster going for you, but monster.com is memorable and easy to spell, so is skype, kijjiji? No, no competition there. Neither of them are doing things the way I want to though.

books that make tests easier are my kind of books

April 12th, 2008

The thing I really hate about school is that the tests never really prepare you for your license exam. I have taken all kinds of licensing exams, real estate, contracting, electrical, and I am working on more - massage therapy will be next! I was talking to holly who is going into the social work field and she has found some books that have helped Pam get her license much quicker and easier.

That is what I am talking about today, books that actually give you the info you need, without all the extra stories that instructors like to share and bore us with. I love people, but when I am in school and paying someone to teach me what I need to know, it frustrates me to know that there is a simple book out there that often does the job better than the professional teacher.

egg cartons for a green house?

April 12th, 2008

I just saw a lam interview on yahoo news - this girl from trading spaces is talking about easy ways to go green with your house. I guess I was expecting some real building and remodeling tips, perhaps water saving toilets, or instant hot water heaters, instead she is talking about reusing egg cartons and saving old books by making them into art - lame.

Not at all what I was expecting when I clicked that video news link, although I did like her idea for making wallpaper out of old books - I would love to do that, of course I would like to see some pictures of other people’s walls that have it, not the kind of project I want to start and then decide it’s all wrong and needs to be redone, redoing wallpaper sucks, and wasting a book in the process would be heartbreaking.
