books that make tests easier are my kind of books

Saturday, April 12th, 2008

The thing I really hate about school is that the tests never really prepare you for your license exam. I have taken all kinds of licensing exams, real estate, contracting, electrical, and I am working on more – massage therapy will be next! I was talking to holly who is going into the social work field and she has found some books that have helped Pam get her license much quicker and easier.

That is what I am talking about today, books that actually give you the info you need, without all the extra stories that instructors like to share and bore us with. I love people, but when I am in school and paying someone to teach me what I need to know, it frustrates me to know that there is a simple book out there that often does the job better than the professional teacher.

It’s cold here but parts of china are freezing

Thursday, January 3rd, 2008

It’s really cold here, and it’s annoying, but not life threatening. I enjoy warmth everywhere I go, and I stay inside most of the winter. In China however there has been news of a massive winter storm that has stopped fuel and transportation to many rural places and there are lots of people in need of transit and fuel to say warm in the middle of the winter. That’s gotta be scary, the last time we had a bad ice storm I was able to drive 20 minutes and find civilization with plenty of warm heat and electricity, even though it was out at home. I feel for anybody who does not have the means to get to warm when it is really cold outside. it seems that some of the most beautiful real estate on the planet has limited access when it comes to major utilities responding in an emergency. With that in mind, when I get my dream home in the woods, I’m going to be prepared for spending several weeks without electricity if the need arises.
