Skipping Mardi Gras - New Orleans no more
Sunday, February 3rd, 2008There are several things that I really enjoy in New Orleans, the fun party / drinking atmosphere, the risque pictures and places that are everywhere in the French quarter, and the art shops there are great. There are many things that I really don’t care for however, and I don’t see these things getting fixed any time soon, or ever for that matter.
There is a lot of questionable areas in the city where i wonder how safe it is to drink the water, or eat the food. The local seafood tastes great, but how many chemicals are in the water down there from Hurricane Katrina and the river itself bringing more from the farms and cities up stream? That stuff has got to get intot he fish and therefor into you if you eat it. I’m not a scientist, but it worries me.
The general feeling I get from the locals is not one of happy - merry - joy-joy, so I will be avoiding this city for quite some time.
